My website import found nothing, or says it failed. What happened?
Read the exact message shown, it already tells you which of a handful of specific reasons applies, including whether the fault was ours.
You ran Import from Website and it found nothing, or shows an error. The message you actually see already tells you which specific reason applies, this article explains what each one means.
First, check whether it is actually a failure
"Nothing to update" is not a failure. If your site has not changed since the last time Peakify read it, a re-crawl correctly imports nothing new, that means your knowledge base is already current, not that anything is broken.
If it genuinely could not read your site
- "Something went wrong on our side." Exactly what it says, a fault on our end, not your website. Try again in a few minutes, if it keeps happening, this one is worth reporting to us directly, see below.
- We could not read any pages on your website. This covers a few distinct causes bundled into one honest message: your site actively blocking automated readers (a security service like Cloudflare, or a password wall), a site that only shows its real content after JavaScript runs, which our reader does not execute, or pages that loaded but genuinely had no readable text on them, a scanned image standing in for a page, say.
The workaround, when your site genuinely cannot be crawled
If your site is blocked or JavaScript-rendered, crawling it is never going to work, and that is fine, use one of the two manual paths instead, they produce the exact same kind of knowledge base entries a crawl would:
- How do I add something to my knowledge base by hand? paste your page text and let AI structure it into entries.
- How do I upload a document to my knowledge base? if your content already lives in a PDF or Word document.
If you hit the hourly limit
Website import shares a limit of 5 imports per hour with Format With AI, for your whole organization. If you see a limit message, wait and try again later, this is not an error, it is a deliberate cap.
If none of this matches what you are seeing
If the message on screen does not match anything above, or it keeps saying "something went wrong on our side" more than once, open Help in your sidebar and tell us your website address and roughly when you tried, that is something only we can dig into from our side.

The other guides people read alongside this one.
- Why is the chat box not showing on my website?
Almost always one of two things: the snippet was never actually published live, or your account has a newer snippet waiting on a switch only we control.
- Why is the AI not replying at all?
About half a dozen switches can quietly silence the AI on one conversation without anything looking broken. Check them in this order.
- The AI answered something wrong, or made something up. What do I do?
The real fix is almost always what the AI knows or how strictly it is told to stick to your services, not a bug to report.
- Why are my texts not arriving?
Check the reason shown on the message itself first, most causes are plain-language and self-explanatory once you see them.
