How do I upload a document to my knowledge base?
Drop in a PDF, Word doc, text or markdown file, up to five at a time, and review the entries before they save.
If your services, pricing or policies live in a document rather than on a website, upload it directly and Peakify reads the text out of it and turns it into knowledge base entries for you to review. This needs your organization's admin, depending on your account.
Upload a document
- Go to Knowledge Base and click Upload a document.
- Drop your files in, or choose them: PDF, Word (.docx), text or markdown. Up to 5 files at a time, 4 MB each and 4 MB combined.
- Click Read these files. Peakify reads the text out of each one, the files themselves are never stored, only the words.
- It turns the combined text into proposed entries, the same review screen as pasting text.
- Review each entry, edit or remove any of them, then click Save.
If a file does not work
- Too big: split it or save a smaller copy.
- Wrong type: only PDF, Word, text and markdown are read.
- A scanned PDF with no real text: Peakify tells you it found no text. This usually means the PDF is a picture of a page rather than real text, you will need to retype the content or find a text-based version.
- Two copies of the same document in one batch are only read once, the duplicate is skipped, not double-imported.
None of this touches your existing entries, a failed file is simply left out while the rest of your batch continues.

More in Teaching the AI
The other guides people read alongside this one.
- What is my knowledge base, and why does the AI need it?
Your knowledge base is your own business information, services, prices, hours and policies, that teaches your AI assistant how to answer your customers. It is not our help articles.
- How do I add something to my knowledge base by hand?
Write an entry directly, or paste text and let AI turn it into organized entries for you to review before saving.
- How do I bring in everything from my website?
Peakify reads your public pages and turns them into knowledge base entries automatically, and checks your site again once a week on its own.
- How do I split a long knowledge base entry into smaller ones?
Break one long article into several focused entries along its own section headings, in one click.
