How do I split a long knowledge base entry into smaller ones?

If one entry has grown into a long page covering several topics, splitting breaks it into several smaller, focused entries in one click, along its own section headings.

Split an entry

1. Go to Knowledge Base and find the entry.
2. Click the scissors icon on it. It only appears when there is something Peakify can actually split.
3. Review the list of new entries it will create.
4. Click Create entries. The original entry is replaced by the new ones immediately, it cannot be restored automatically, so check the preview first.

How Peakify decides where to split

It first looks for ## section headings in your entry, each one becomes its own entry, named after the heading. If your entry has no headings, it falls back to looking for topics separated by a wide gap, three or more blank lines in a row. If neither is found, there is nothing to split and the scissors icon does not appear.

If a split partly fails

If one of the new entries fails to save partway through, Peakify cleans up the ones that did save, so you are not left with orphaned sections, and your original entry is left untouched. Try again, or add the sections by hand instead.
