Why am I being asked to verify or register before I can text?

US carriers require every business to register a brand and a campaign before texting US numbers. It is a one-time process, and your Canadian texting keeps working the whole time.

Peakify is asking you to register or verify your business before you can text. This only happens if you chose to text US numbers, and it is a real requirement from US carriers, not something Peakify invented or can waive.

Why this exists

US carriers, through an industry body called The Campaign Registry, require every business sending SMS to US numbers to register a brand and a campaign first. This is industry-wide, every text platform that sends to US numbers has some version of this step. If your account is Canada-only, you will never see this, Canadian sending does not need it.

What it involves

  • Your tax ID, a US EIN or a Canadian Business Number.
  • Your registered business address, as it appears on tax records.
  • An authorized contact the registry can reach, name, email, and phone.
  • Your website, campaigns without one are rejected more often.
  • The exact wording your customers agreed to when they opted in to your texts.
  • Five sample messages matching what you actually send, including one showing your STOP opt-out line.

What it costs, and how long it takes

A one-time $49 USD fee when you submit, covering the brand and campaign review, then $5 to $20 USD a month once your campaign is approved, most small local businesses land on the lower end. Approval typically takes 10 to 15 business days. If Telnyx rejects your submission, your $49 is refunded automatically, and resubmitting after a rejection costs nothing further.

Where to check your status

Go to Settings, then SMS, to see where your registration currently stands. It will show as not started, submitted and waiting on review, approved, or needing attention. Needing attention means something in your submission was rejected or needs correcting, the reason is shown so you know exactly what to fix before resubmitting, for free.

While you wait

Your Canadian texting is completely unaffected, it never needed this registration and keeps working the whole time your US registration is pending. See How do I start texting customers? if you have not set up Canadian texting yet and want somewhere to start while you wait.

If your registration is stuck

If your status has shown submitted for much longer than 15 business days, or you are not sure what a rejection reason means, open Help in your sidebar and email us, registration review happens on Telnyx and The Campaign Registry's side, not ours, but we can help you read the result and fix a resubmission.
