What do the AUX statuses (Working, Break, Lunch, Training, Available) actually mean?
AUX is the status pill in your top bar. It says what you're doing right now, and it's what your adherence and performance numbers are built on.
AUX is the status pill in the top bar of your dashboard, wherever you are in Peakify. It always shows your current status and a running clock next to it. Click it to open "AUX Mode Selection, choose your current work status" and switch to something else. It matters more than it looks: this one control is what your adherence and every performance number in Team management is actually built from.
The five statuses that are always there
Every account has these five, and while your organization can rename them, it can't remove them entirely:
- Available. You're signed in but not on anything in particular. This
is your resting state, before you claim a task and after you finish one.
Internally this is called
idle, but you'll only ever see "Available" on screen. - Working. You're actively on a claimed task. It starts by itself the moment you claim something, you don't need to switch to it yourself.
- Break. A short rest.
- Lunch. Your meal break. This is the only one of the five that is unpaid by default, every other status on this list, including Break, is paid.
- Training. Real work you're doing, just not on a customer.
Two more you'll probably also see
Peakify starts every organization off with two extra statuses on top of the five above, and unlike those five, your organization can rename, change, or remove either of them:
- Coaching / Meeting. For one-to-ones with your manager or similar time. It's still paid, it's just not counted as productive, the same way Break and Lunch aren't.
- Admin / Back-office. For work that isn't a customer conversation but is still real work, it's paid and it does count as productive, the same way Working and Training do.
Depending on your account, your organization may have renamed these, turned one off, or added statuses of its own on top, so the exact list and wording on your own pill is set by your organization. What's above is the starting set Peakify provides.
What each one does to your numbers
Working, Training and Admin / Back-office all count as productive time. Available counts as signed-in-but-not-working time, which is used to work out your occupancy. Break, Lunch, Coaching / Meeting, and any similar rest-type status your organization has added all count as time off the queue, which pulls up your shrinkage number, whether or not that status is paid. Training is the one that does double duty: it counts as productive AND still counts toward shrinkage, since it's real work, but it's still time away from customers.
Switch your status
- Click the pill.
- Pick a status from the list.
- It switches immediately and starts a fresh clock, your previous status is recorded as ended at that moment.
If you go over your allowance
Depending on your account, your organization may set a daily limit on breaks, or a weekly limit on training minutes. Going over one never blocks you outright, you'll see a small warning triangle next to that option, and if you pick it anyway you're asked to confirm "Switch anyway?" with a note that it's over your allowance and will be logged. Confirm and it goes through, recorded for your manager to see. The one thing that can stop you outright is claiming a task while you're on Break, Lunch or Training, some organizations turn on a setting that requires you to end that status yourself first before you're allowed to claim.
If you forget to switch back
If you're marked Working and go quiet for a while (your screen stops checking in, for example your laptop is closed), Peakify notices and ends that session for you, flags it for your manager to review, and puts you back to Available automatically. The same happens if a break, lunch or training session runs well past its normal length, it's closed automatically once the extra grace time passes, and you're set back to Available. This isn't a punishment by itself, but it does show up as something your manager can see was flagged, so it's worth switching your status properly rather than just walking away.

More in Team management: your day
The other guides people read alongside this one.
- How do I find my way around Team management?
Team management (TMS) is one screen with tabs. Click TMS in your sidebar, then pick the tab for what you need.
- What is on my Team management workspace, and how do I use it?
Your workspace is a screen split into four parts: your task list, the conversation with whoever you're helping, their record, and the controls for finishing or returning a task.
- How do I claim a task from my workspace, and finish it?
Claim a task from your ranked list, work it with the timer running, then complete it with a note or send it back.
- How do I see and add to my task list in Team management?
The Tasks tab is a searchable, filterable list of every task, with a button to add a new one. To actually work a task, claim it from your workspace instead.
