Where does my data live, and how do I get it deleted?

Export your contacts, audit log or full organization profile any time from Data & privacy. Deleting your whole organization takes 30 business days and can be cancelled up to that point, deleting only your own account is instant and separate.

Peakify gives you two separate ways to act on your data under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25): export a copy of it, or request that it be permanently deleted, either just your own account or your whole organization. Both live in the same place and only an account administrator can reach them.

Export your data

  1. Go to Settings, then the Security & data tab, then Data & privacy.
  2. Under Export your data, choose Contacts (CSV), Audit log (CSV), or Organization profile (JSON).
  3. If your account uses two-factor sign-in, you may be asked for your code first, then you come back to this page. Choose the export again. If two-factor sign-in is not on yet, you are taken to turn it on first.
  4. Your download starts within a moment.

The Contacts file lists your live contacts only. A customer in Deleted customers, or one that was merged into another contact, is left out. Open the file in Excel and accents show correctly, because it is saved as UTF-8 with the mark Excel looks for.

A download is always the whole list or nothing. If you have more than 15,000 contacts, or more than 10,000 audit log entries, the button tells you it is too many to download here instead of giving you a file that stops part way. Contact support and we will prepare the full export for you.

If you need something these three exports do not cover, contact support and we will prepare a custom one.

Delete your whole organization

  1. On the same page, under Request account deletion, press Request deletion.
  2. Type a short reason, at least 10 characters, this is required.
  3. Press Submit deletion request.

We process the request within 30 business days of submitting it, and the page shows you the exact date this lands on along with how many business days are left, counting down as they pass. This permanently deletes your organization, its contacts, its conversations and its call history, and once those 30 days pass it cannot be recovered.

You can change your mind any time before the deletion actually runs: press Cancel deletion request, then confirm by typing your organization's name exactly. Nothing is deleted and your access stays exactly as it was.

If your organization has a phone number you brought to us from another provider, the request is refused with "Port out or release your ported numbers first." Deleting the organization would take that business number with it. Move the number to another provider first, from Calls, then Numbers, or ask us to release it, then request deletion again.

Delete only your own account

Below the organization section is a separate Delete my account option that removes only your own sign-in and personal profile, your organization and your teammates are completely unaffected. Type your email and current password to confirm, this takes effect immediately, there is no waiting period. If you are the last remaining administrator on the account, you will be asked to promote someone else to Administrator first, from How do I invite someone to my team?, or to delete the whole organization instead using the option above.

How this relates to cancelling your subscription

Cancelling your subscription and requesting deletion are two different things. Cancelling stops billing and moves your account to the free plan, keeping your data in place, see How do I cancel, and what happens to my data afterwards? Deletion is the step that actually removes your data for good, and you do not need to cancel first to request it.

When an unused free account is deleted

A free-plan account nobody on the team signs in to or uses for 120 days is switched off, and 90 days after that it and everything in it is deleted. We email the account owner a warning at least 30 days before it is switched off, and again when it is switched off. Anyone on the team can bring it back during those 90 days just by signing in. See What happens to my free account if nobody uses it?
