How do I turn the AI off for one inbox?
Set that inbox's AI handling to Off, so every conversation on it goes to a human, without changing any other inbox.
You can turn the AI off for just one inbox, website chat, SMS or WhatsApp, without touching how it behaves anywhere else.
Turn it off
- Go to Settings, then Inbox, and open the inbox you want to change.
- Open its Bot Configuration tab.
- Under AI handling, choose Off. Every conversation on this inbox now goes to a human, nobody, and the AI never replies.
You can also choose Suggestive instead of fully off: the AI still drafts a reply for each message, but a person on your team has to review and send it, nothing goes out on its own.
The other AI switch on this inbox
This inbox's own Settings tab also has an "AI assistant on" checkbox, described on screen as controlling whether the AI replies automatically on this inbox. If you are turning the AI off here, check that this box is also unchecked, so the two controls agree.
This is a different switch from pausing your AI everywhere
Your AI Assistant settings page, Settings, then AI Assistant, has its own Pause switch on the Overview tab. That is a separate, broader control from the one on this page, always check which one you actually mean to change. This article is only about switching off a single inbox.
Turning it back on
Open the same Bot Configuration tab and choose Suggestive or Auto-pilot. It starts answering that inbox's new conversations again immediately. A conversation already assigned to a person is not affected either way, see How do I give a conversation to someone else?

More in Teaching the AI
The other guides people read alongside this one.
- What is my knowledge base, and why does the AI need it?
Your knowledge base is your own business information, services, prices, hours and policies, that teaches your AI assistant how to answer your customers. It is not our help articles.
- How do I add something to my knowledge base by hand?
Write an entry directly, or paste text and let AI turn it into organized entries for you to review before saving.
- How do I bring in everything from my website?
Peakify reads your public pages and turns them into knowledge base entries automatically, and checks your site again once a week on its own.
- How do I upload a document to my knowledge base?
Drop in a PDF, Word doc, text or markdown file, up to five at a time, and review the entries before they save.
