How do I add credit, and can it top itself up automatically?

Add money to your SMS & Voice wallet any time from Billing, or turn on automatic top-ups so it never runs dry. It is the one balance that pays for texts, calls and AI Workspace answers for your team past their free monthly amount.

Your SMS & Voice wallet is the one balance you add to. It pays for texts and calls beyond your plan's free monthly amount, and for AI Workspace answers your team uses past their free monthly amount. The AI answering your customers is included with your plan and never draws from your wallet.

Add credit by hand

  1. Go to Billing.
  2. Under Add credits, pick one of the preset amounts, or type a custom amount in the box.
  3. Press the Add button. You are taken to Stripe Checkout to pay.
  4. Once you pay, you are brought back to Billing and your new balance appears shortly after.

There is a minimum top-up amount, shown on the page itself next to the button, smaller top-ups are disproportionately eaten by processing fees. You can add up to $100,000 at a time. Sales tax applies where it applies to you.

On the free plan

The free plan does not use credit: texting, calls and phone numbers are off, and credit does not bring the AI back. So on the free plan your Billing page shows no Add credits or Spending limits & alerts card, just a note saying the free plan does not use credit and an Upgrade button. Any balance you already had stays on the account and is there again when you upgrade. Automatic top-ups are switched off when your account moves to the free plan.

Turn on automatic top-ups

Set a threshold and an amount under Spending limits & alerts on your Billing page: whenever your wallet drops below the threshold, Peakify tops it up by the amount you chose, on its own, using your saved card. This needs a card already saved in Stripe, if you have not added one yet, the page links you straight to add it.

What your wallet pays for

  • Texts and calls. Once your plan's free monthly allowance is used up.
  • AI Workspace answers. Your team gets 10 free answers per seat every month, pooled across your business. After that, each answer is billed from your wallet at a small per-answer price. On the free plan answers are never billed: once the free ones are used up, upgrade to keep going, see What is the AI Workspace, and how is it different from the AI that answers my customers?

The AI that answers your customers is included with your plan. It is never billed from your wallet and never stopped for how much it is used.

Your balance, and roughly how far it goes at current rates, is shown on your Billing page.

Spend alerts, hard cap and unusual spend

The same Spending limits & alerts card on your Billing page also has three ways to keep an eye on spend, past the auto top-up setting above:

  • Soft alerts. An email when usage in the current billing period crosses a dollar threshold you set, up to 10 thresholds. Resets every period.
  • Hard cap. Pauses texts, calls and AI Workspace answers once usage in the current billing period reaches the amount you set. Raising the amount above what you have spent this period, or turning it off, resumes sending right away. Otherwise it resets on its own when your next billing period starts.
  • Unusual spend. A heads up if today's spend is well above your normal daily average, in case something is misconfigured or a number is being misused.

Admins see a banner on the dashboard for whichever of these is active, on top of the email, so you do not have to be reading your inbox to notice. It goes away on its own once the alert is no longer current: next billing period for a soft alert or a hard cap, the next day for an unusual-spend notice.

By default these go to your organization's admins. Add your own list of recipients on the same card if you want someone else copied too.

More in Billing

The other guides people read alongside this one.

  • How do I go live, and what does it actually charge me?

Press Go live now to see the exact amount before anything is charged, or do nothing and it charges automatically on the date shown when your trial ends. Cancel the charge any time before then to stay on the trial.

  • How do I change my plan?

Pick a new plan, contact volume or billing interval from Change plan, see exactly what it costs and when it takes effect, then confirm. Nothing is charged until you do.

  • Where do I find my invoices and see what I was charged for?

The Invoices & receipts tab lists every subscription invoice and every one-off payment, credit top-ups, automatic top-ups, A2P and signup fees, each with a link to download it or view its Stripe receipt.

  • How do I cancel, and what happens to my data afterwards?

Cancel from Manage in Stripe on your Billing page. Your plan runs until the end of the period you already paid for, then your inboxes are archived, your phone numbers are held for a short while, and your data is kept, not deleted.
