Can I keep my phone number when I move to Peakify?

Ask to bring a number in from your current phone company. Your number keeps working with them until the move is done.

Bringing in a number you already use somewhere else is called porting. Your number keeps working with your current phone company the whole time, right up until the move actually happens, so nothing goes dark in between.

You need to be an account administrator, with two-factor sign-in turned on, and a card on file in Billing, to request a port-in. We ask for a code before anything that costs money, and a port always ends in a real $5 USD a month charge once the number lands, so there has to be a card to charge.

What you need before you start

  • The number, or up to 5 numbers in one request, written the normal way you would dial it.
  • Your current carrier's name.
  • The account number on your bill with that carrier.
  • For a US number, the account PIN your carrier uses to confirm a transfer. Canadian numbers do not need one.
  • The name and title of whoever is authorized to request the move.
  • The service address your carrier has on file for the number.
  • A recent bill from your current carrier, as a photo or a PDF, under 2.5 MB.
  • A typed signature authorizing the move.

Ask to bring a number in

  1. Go to Calls, then Numbers.
  2. Click Bring your existing number.
  3. Fill in the number, your carrier's details, your service address, and upload a recent bill.
  4. Type your name as your signature and click Submit request.

We email you a confirmation, and our team starts working the request. You can check its status from the same screen any time.

Bringing in a number during your trial

During your free trial you can bring in your very first number the same way a bought one works: only the free plan is refused, and a live trial needs at least $10 of credit on your account first. Bringing in a SECOND number, while you already own one or already have another port-in request waiting, needs your plan to have started, the same rule buying an extra number follows.

What happens next

Our team submits the move to your current carrier through our phone provider. This usually takes 1 to 4 weeks, on your carrier's own timeline, not ours. Your number keeps working with them until the move actually finishes.

Once the move completes, your number is live on Peakify. We bill $5 USD a month for it from that point, the same as any other number, using the card already on your account. A US number also needs its own texting registration finished before it can send texts; everything else works right away.

Porting is free

There is no fee to bring a number in. You only start paying the $5 a month once it is live here, never before.

Cancelling a request

You can cancel a request yourself from the same screen while it is still Submitted, or while it Needs your attention. Once our team has started submitting it to your carrier, it moves to In progress and can no longer be cancelled from here; reply to your confirmation email and we will cancel it for you.

Once one of the numbers on a request has already been connected to your account, the request can no longer be cancelled from here either; reply to your confirmation email and we will sort it out with you.

If something needs your attention

If your carrier needs more information, or rejects something about the request, we will email you and say exactly what is needed. The request stays in your list the whole time, so you always know where it stands.
