How do I delete a contact, or handle a request to delete someone's data?
Delete removes the contact and everything tied to them, conversations, messages, notes and call recordings, and there is no undo.
Deleting a contact is also how you act on a customer's request to have their data deleted. It removes the contact and everything tied to them, permanently. Only your organization's admin can do this.
Delete one contact
- Open the contact, or find their row in your Contacts list.
- Click Delete, the trash icon on their row, or the Delete button on their own page.
- Confirm. This also deletes their conversations, messages, notes and any sequence enrollments, and it cannot be undone.
Delete several at once
- On your Contacts list, tick the checkbox next to each contact you want to remove.
- In the toolbar that appears, click Delete.
- Confirm. Any contact that does not belong to your organization, for example one already deleted by someone else, is silently skipped and reported in the summary. The rest are removed the same way as a single delete.
Handling a request to delete someone's data
When a customer asks you to delete everything you hold about them, deleting their contact record is how you do it. It removes their contact details, their conversation and message history and their notes, and erases their call recordings from our voice provider, not just from your account, on a best-effort basis. This is how you act on an individual's erasure request under privacy law such as PIPEDA or Quebec's Law 25.
This is different from closing your whole Peakify account. If your business itself wants everything deleted, that is a separate request under Settings, then Data & privacy, and it removes your organization's entire account, not just one contact.
If you would rather not delete outright
There is no way to hide or archive a single contact today, deleting is the only way to remove one from your account.
If a request raises anything you are not sure how to handle, chat with us and we will help you get it right.

The other guides people read alongside this one.
- How do I add a contact by hand?
Give it a name, phone number or email, whatever you have, and it's ready to message straight away.
- How do I import a list of contacts from a CSV file?
Upload a CSV, check the column matches, and Peakify skips anything that already exists.
- How do I edit a contact's details?
Open the contact, click Edit, and update their name, phone, email, tags or marketing consent.
- How do I merge two contacts that are actually the same person?
Pick the duplicate, review what will move, and merge it into the contact you're keeping. Depending on your account, Peakify also points out likely duplicates for you.
